Ants is a sonification and visualization installation of an artificial life simulation, modelled after an Australian sugar ant species. Developed in Processing, the visual environment is a clean design, intended to immerse the viewer in the emergent system as it unfolds in real time.
A controller is supplied that allows the viewer to navigate through the system, changing the location of the camera, and the sound field.
Whenever the simulated ants interact with each other they exchange information and a lyrical poetry within the colony is generated using a generative algorithm.
